This is the short version of the German article »Lemmis Firmware«.

Introduction

The Firmware consists of two main parts:

  1. The Linux operating system
  2. The wavebox: A programm that handles the complete user interaction.

I have only access to the Linux system.

The wavebox is fully made by Siemens.

What does my firmware?

  • My FW variants modify only the Linux system. All activities of the wavebox are unmodified.
  • inetd is activ and allows Telnet and FTP (in some FW versions) connections.
  • The FTP-Server rund as daemon in my newest FW versions.
  • lircd has been modified for allowing external programms to senduing commands. This feature may impact the wavebox.
  • All other small programms are definitly passive until they are directly called in a telnet session.

What can I not do with my firmware?

My firmware cannot influence the activities of the wavebox. Some of these activities are:

  • Examination of the remote control comamnds (see also lircd).
  • Recording and Playing.
  • Timer programming.
  • selection of the senders.
  • EPG.
  • teletext.
  • OSD inkcusive Skins.
